Recently, Dr. Miller has been handling cases involving battery fires, particularly with respect to e-cigarettes and vaporizers. I spent the better part of 30 years working in various aspects of the hospitality and food industries including restaurants, cafes, a bed and breakfast, and a retreat center. During this time my duties included working in and overseeing kitchens, working in the dining room in the service aspects, managing banquet operations, overseeing beverage programs, purchasing, receiving, inventory, etc. I have worked in nearly every aspect of the commercial food and beverage industry. I’ve also spent more than 17 years teaching hospitality management, food safety, and leadership to college students for some of the largest and most prominent hospitality schools in the country, including the University of Delaware’s hospitality school, the Culinary Institute of America, the UNLV Harrah Hotel College, and FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
