Dr. Howard Cohen Ph.D.

Dr. Cohen has been working as an expert witness in software intellectual property matters since 1997, in cases involving patents, trade secrets, copyright, and contract disputes. This has followed a 30+ year career as a software engineer and architect across a broad array of operating systems, languages, and applications areas, including bioinformatics, electronic design automation, digital cartography, DARPA funded research projects, weather modeling, foreign exchange trading systems, and many more. He has been engaged in over 60 cases (as of 2025), and has testified in federal court, California state court, and at JAMS hearings before retired federal judges. He is a clear and fluent communicator, both in writing and in person, and quickly comes up to speed in new technologies and new application areas.
